Lake Superior Open Weather Policy Reminder

26 Jun by Sean Martinson

As we head into this weekend’s tournament, please review the MYSA weather guidelines that the Lake Superior Open will follow:

⛈️ Severe Weather:

Games will be suspended for 30 minutes if lightning is in the area. A siren will sound—everyone must leave the fields immediately.

Tournament officials will determine if and when play can safely resume.

If play cannot resume, the score at stoppage will stand.

Games that cannot begin due to weather will be recorded as a 0-0 tie.

🔥 Heat Policy:
Tournament staff will monitor the heat index and communicate any adjustments:

Up to 89° – Normal play

90°–99° – 2-min water breaks per half; halves shortened by 5 mins

100°–105° – 2-min water breaks per half; halves shortened by 10 mins

105°+ – Play suspended
